Some of the thoughts and views being propagated about cruising are outdated.  Really.  In this introductory episode we discuss the reasons for cruising, attempt to dispell some of those tired myths, and explain why it's the best deal out there.  This episode was recorded while on the Celebrity Millenium during our Alaska cruise in May 2009.

Just following up on Episode 1 with some supplemental information.

  1. The "Love Boat" was the Pacific Princess used by Princess Cruise Lines from 1975 all the way until 2002.  It is now owned by Quail Cruises operating out of Valencia, Spain.
  2. Condo residences on ships are operated by "The World" and a start up called "Four Seas Ocean Residences".
  3. Panamax Ships are ships which can transition the Panama Canal.  The maximum Beam or width is 106 feet (32.3 meters).
  4. Wii stations are setup on Norwegian Cruise lines... see this article http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/29/nintendo-wii-offered-on-cruise-ships/. 
  5. For those interested, some soap opera cruises are Soap Cruise and Rock the Soap.
  6. The Celebrity Solstice occupancy is 2,850 vs 2,034 on the Celebrity Millenium.  The Solstice is a 122 kiloton ship and the Millenium is a 91 kiloton ship.
